TINCUP x WESTON x AIARE

TINCUP has partnered with Weston (an award-winning manufacturer of splitboards, skis and snowboards) and AIARE (the American Institute of Avalanche Research and Education) to enable safe adventure this winter through the creation of a highly limited number of skis and splitboards featuring artwork created by Renan Ozturk.

These skis and splitboards will not be for sale anywhere and are only available to those willing to get the education they need before exploring the backcountry. Submit for your chance to experience this rideable artwork by checking your understanding of avalanche hazards below. The grand prize winner will receive one pair of skis or a splitboard for themselves and their partner in adventure alongside $1000 worth of AIARE certified courses.

The winter backcountry is complex. If you’re venturing into it, you need education so you can understand the hazards and learn how to manage risk.

The core of an AIARE course is The AIARE Risk Management Framework. The AIARE Framework is a step-by-step backcountry risk management process made of daily and seasonal routines and agreements that foster consensus with your partners. The AIARE Framework also supports your continued learning with a process that helps you continue to build experience.

What makes a good partner in adventure?

A good partner in adventure is there as you dream up your next ambitious pursuit. They encourage you to push beyond your comfort zone and motivate you to explore the world in ways that are meaningful to you.

They galvanize you to take on new challenges, grow your skills, and imagine new adventures, together. But being a good partner in adventure means having the skills, tools, and knowledge needed to keep yourself, and your companions out of harm’s way.
